BJ Harris
Born in Regina and raised in Moose Jaw, BJ moved to Saskatoon in 1989 to attend the University of Saskatchewan, where he received degrees in music and education. He has taught in both public and private schools in Saskatoon and Prince Albert, working with students from pre-kindergarten through to grade 12. Currently, he teaches band at five elementary schools in the Saskatoon Public School Division.
A founding member of the a cappella group Streetnix, BJ toured across Canada and the United States for eleven years, performing over 2,500 shows (logging 1.2 million kilometres on three tour vans in the process). At its peak, Streetnix made over 350 concert appearances a year, and released four full-length albums, with combined sales of over 60,000 units (without a record label).
BJ lives in Saskatoon with his wife and two children. When not at school, he keeps busy in his music studio, where he composes and arranges music, and produces albums for local musicians. He performs with a variety of local groups, and has been a guest vocalist for several music ensembles throughout Saskatchewan. His debut solo album, "I Wanna Be Like You", was released in 2011, and is available online through both iTunes and CD Baby.
